HETMA Opens Online Community to Corporate Partners

After two years of focusing on building their signature programs–the Virtual Conference, Approved Program, and Prism Scholarship–and solidifying their membership, HETMA has taken the next step in its development by opening up their online community to corporate partners.

“This was the next natural step,” notes Joe Way, Chair and Co-Founder. “For HETMA to accomplish our future goals, cultivating relationships with manufacturer and integrator partners is a must.” In 2023, HETMA will focus on formulating its Advisory Boards, organizing educational programming at the industry’s most prestigious conferences and events, and strengthening their corporate partnerships. Way continues, “The growth of HETMA has been lightning in a bottle. When BC and I founded the organization, we knew there was need to advocate for the business needs of the higher ed vertical, but we had no idea the trajectory HETMA would take.”

Co-Founder, BC Hatchett adds: “Relationships are vital in our vertical. The partnerships that HETMA fosters ensures that both manufacturers and higher ed technology managers can work together to create solutions to meet the unique challenges of higher education.” HETMA was founded as an advocacy group and has turned quickly into a trusted AV-industry partner. Looking forward to adding the Advisory Board component, Raj Singh explains, “Higher Education Advisory Boards are essential for both the education technology and audiovisual industry, especially given the breadth and scale of technologies used by higher education institutions. This gives higher education professionals a unique perspective on the technology landscape and emerging challenges. Partnership with the AV/IT/EdTech industry and HETMA’s technology Advisory Boards is a amazing way to channel the decades of experience which all the HETMA members bring to the table for the ever changing technology landscape.” This is the argument HETMA members have been making. Higher education technology managers sit in then middle between being end users and integrators. There is a need, due to purchasing and installing in scale, to grow their industry relationships.

Executive Board member, Ryan Gray continues, “Fostering collaborative relationships with manufacturers is key to HETMA’s mission of empowering our members and growing the higher ed vertical’s influence on the industry. I’m exited for our new website and the addition of communication and collaboration areas with our industry partners in our online platform. This will facilitate the continued growth and success of our current initiatives and help lay the groundwork for future ideas.” HETMA has always believed that the higher ed vertical succeeds when everyone succeeds. Adding the online collaboration component will create a true think-tank for the industry, where higher ed in-house integration and support teams can come together with their manufacturer and integrator partners.

The online community contains sectioned areas for both collaboration among the greater AV industry as well as closed channels for higher ed professionals to talk among one another. HETMA invites all AV professional to join the online community at https://community.hetma.org.
